Academy of Speciality Services Industries
Academy Description
  • The Specialty Service Industries Academy covers three diverse strands that have been identified as growth areas in the 21st century.  It offers rigorous curriculum in Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, and Early Childhood Education, which provides students opportunities for success in these service industries.

  • Academy strands include:

Cosmetology: The Cosmetology program is designed to ignite the students creativity through the studies of hairstyling, hair coloring, facials, make-up, nail design and more. Students will discover the tools and techniques needed, while being in a professional and productive atmosphere.

Culinary Arts: Students in the Culinary Arts strands are exposed to a commercial facility in an educational setting, which provides the students with valuable practical experience. After successful completion of a safety module and training with the appropriate tools, the students begin to utilize equipment and implement daily practices, through preparing breakfast, lunch and special events, as they would in professional workplace.

Early Childhood Education: Students in the Early Childhood program learn what it is like to work with children ranging from ages 2 1/2 to 5 years. Our licensed on-site Little Pirate Preschool allows students to be trained in all aspects of operating a center. Students will also receive the Department of Children and Families training mandated by the state of Florida. Upon completion of the program, students will be fully certified to work as preschool teachers. This will be a great opportunity to have a job while going to college.

Academy Goals

The Specialty Service Industries Academy blends three individually diverse fields into targeted professions currently and projected with high demand. Each academy instructor works towards providing all students with a realistic and tangible experience of their future profession and the motivation to strive for the maximum degree of excellence.
